Years of Local Experience
Daniel Gerdes, our founder has 30 years of experience in the landscaping industry in the Chicagoland region working on some of the most iconic properties in our area and has served as production and management for some of Chicago’s largest firms. He brings this depth of experience to the table every day for our customers, focused on high quality service, customer care and a fresh approach to the industry.

Meet the Founder
Daniel Gerdes has been designing for and leading award-winning teams in the Chicagoland landscaping industry for 30 years. He has worked every job position in the industry from Maintenance Laborer to Branch Manager during that time. During his career he has held many positions, managing residential maintenance departments, managing enhancements departments, overseeing and designing seasonal color programs, and leading local companies to great success and expansion on senior leadership teams. Most recently, he worked as Chicago Branch Manager for one of the country’s largest firms, building a successful team through rapid growth and rebranding. Those years of hands-on experience and his continued passion for the essential and transformative work of landscaping, fine gardening and an enduring love for the outdoors brought him to found Gardenworks Land and Lawn in early 2024.
His resume includes personally managing such properties as Wrigley Field, Millennium Park, Willis Tower, Soldier Field, Navy Pier, The United Center, White Sox Stadium, Northwestern Memorial Hospitals, Union Station, Aon Center, The Chicago Park District, The Villages of Naperville, Winnetka, Evanston, Skokie, Orland Park, Tinley Park and many, many more.
